I served Parenting for Liberation as the program manager of the Black Parent Innovation Lab for their second cycle of Black Parent Innovation Fellows. This project/program management consulting role was a joyous experience that afforded me the privilege of supporting an amazing team and seven Black Parent Fellows working to strengthen their communities.

Building Black Futures

Parenting for Liberation (P4L) is on a mission to is on a mission to support Black parents in healing from historical and ongoing trauma & interrupt intergenerational violence to build resilient and joyful Black families in community. The Black Parent Innovation Fund allowed P4L to provide wraparound support to 7 Black Parents in their respective journeys in honing new strategies to help their communities thrive. Fellows accepted into the program were each awarded $5,000 to ideate and bring these strategies to life.

My work focused on oversight and management of the logistical coordination of the Innovation Lab - including travel and lodging for in-person immersive labs, managing virtual meetings and related resources/materials for the Design Team and our Fellows.

Highlights include:

  • Facilitation of a successful selection process; review of applicants alongside a Selection Circle

  • Ensuring a white glove experience seeded in P4L values in the onboarding process for Fellows

  • Supporting facilitation team in the completion of 2 immersive Innovation Labs

  • Amplification of P4Lā€™s amazing vision and mission for Black liberation.
